Picture yourself on a walk where you can identify bird species by their songs and calls, immerse yourself in their territorial dramas and predator encounters, and feel a deeper connection to nature.
This birdsong walk is designed for those eager to learn more about our common woodland and garden birds, allowing participants to recognise them by sound as well as by sight. We will listen for various calls and songs, discuss the distinguishing features of different species, and provide an overview of their ecology and conservation status. Additionally, we will explore the significance of woodland habitats and ways to attract birds to our own gardens.
We will end this walk with refreshments at our new Communtiy Orchard, with 20 fruit trees from North Kesteven District Council as part of the creating community orchards across the District, funded by the Coronation Living Heritage Fund.
Leading the walk is Matt, a professional ornithologist and passionate birdwatcher with extensive experience in the environmental consultancy field. His work encompasses providing technical ornithology expertise to diverse clients, along with practical ecology tasks like breeding bird surveys and wetland bird counts.
