After our exciting relocation to Strunch Hill Wood on the Doddington Estate, we are now settling in and transforming it into a home for Land and Leaf’s Forest School activities and Old Wood Organics Wellbeing Sessions.
Join us in constructing a tree bog!
During these sessions, you will:
Assist in building a small timber-framed structure and compost toilet infrastructure using sustainable and reclaimed materials.
Discover the advantages of composting toilets, the various types of systems that can be created, and how they function.
Learn how to design and construct a simple timber-framed building, with principles applicable to creating various small structures like cabins, dens, studios, or sheds.
Build confidence in a range of woodworking skills and the use of common woodworking tools.
Choose to stay for either 2hrs or 5hrs to suit your schedule.
This workshop is led by Ben Willetts, a skilled woodworker, artist, and compost toilet builder, and includes:
Four weeks of engaging tuition and fun
Tea breaks and refreshments
The option to volunteer for one or all sessions
Sessions designed for complete beginners or seasoned woodworkers
The sessions are held in the woodland at Strunch Hill Wood, Doddington Estate, Lincoln, LN6 4RU, Lincolnshire. This well established woodland has a diverse range of trees, shrubs, and plants, providing opportunities for an immersive woodland expereicne. Sessions will occur in all (except extreme wind or rain) weather conditions. Please dress appropriately and bring snacks or a packed lunch.
Clothing requirements:
Ensure that you and your child/ren are dressed suitably for the weather. Forest School activities will proceed in all conditions, except during high winds or storms. Inappropriate attire may hinder children from enjoying and fully experiencing the sessions.
Cold weather: Wear loose, thin layers to trap warmth, along with warm boots, hats, gloves, and a thick outer layer.
Wet weather: Waterproof boots and outer layers are essential, along with hats and gloves.
