Old Wood Organic's Woodland Wellbeing Programme offers a nature-centered therapeutic service, focusing on ecotherapy and adaptive gardening principles. The activities are crafted to be accessible and achievable to ensure maximum participation for everyone.
On the forest bathing sessions you will learn how to harness the health benefits of time spent in nature, learn about the natural world and understand the five “ways to wellbeing” set out by the NHS: connect, be active, take notice, learn and give. These inclusive sessions blend individual and group experiences to create a supportive environment. During these three hour gentle walks amongst beautiful trees, you will be guided through a series of sensory exercises designed to develop a deeper connection with nature, calming body and mind, before we concluding with a tea ceremony.
Participants have found these sessions beneficial for both physical and mental wellbeing, with reported reductions in stress hormone levels, increased happiness, enhanced creativity, lower heart rate and blood pressure, improved immune system, and quicker recovery from illnesses. The programme serves as a sanctuary for various mental and physical health needs, offering support for individuals going through heartbreak, job loss, accidents, bereavement, or moments of overwhelming life pressures.
This funded mental health and wellbeing programme allows self-referrals or referrals from healthcare providers. Once enrolled, participants will be contacted to discuss their personal needs during the sessions.
We are looking forward to sharing the restorative power of nature with you!
