4 sessions from Mon 5 Aug 2024 [Show]
Old Wood Organic’s Community Woodland Wellbeing Programme is a nature-based therapeutic service, based on the ecotherapy and the adaptive gardening ethos. Conservation, gardening, forest bathing and woodland crafts are extremely adaptable for all ages, abilities and needs. The activities provided are designed to be accessible and achievable to allow maximum participation for all. All activities take place in our beautiful 5-acre woodland, and organic No-Dig kitchen garden.
Participants have reported the sessions are beneficial for both physical and mental wellbeing. The activities provided are proven to reduce stress hormone production, improve feelings of happiness and free up creativity, as well as lower heart rate and blood pressure, boost the immune system and accelerate recovery from illness.
We provide a natural haven for a range of mental and physical health and support needs. There are participants that have recently experienced a heartbreak, job loss, accident, bereavement or are currently finding the pressures of life too overwhelming and need a place to retreat. The sessions are inclusive and incorporate individual and group experiences.
The woodland wellbeing programme is designed to help people to suffer less and actively care for each other and our Earth. Places are funded by Shine managed funding to offer local people a variety of nature-based support activities to provide structure and choice in their lives and contribute to emotional wellbeing. During the summer we are offering 4 weeks of:
