As we look up beyond the tree’s to the starry night we watch the moon fade away and look for the first signs of the New Moon, as a new crescent moon in the sky marks the arrival of Eid.
Eid is a festival that most closely relates to Easter in the Western world; it evokes a feeling of renewal following hardship, abundance and gratitude. Eid is a time for communities to gather to celebrate together.
For Children we will create a natural Eid celebration ring from natural materials found on the woodland floor and decorate it with Ramadan themed moon candles and seasonal decorations. Children will make star shaped origami gift boxes with sweet dates and candles decorated with the new moon to take home.
For adults Paul Sutherland will talk about his new book, The Leopard and The Sea Turtle. This book is a memorial book from an Islamic perspective for Sabrina Yusoof of Sri Lanka who passed away at 33. The book contains poems inspired by Sabrina, both relating to herself and her eco-humanitarian spiritual activities.
All are welcome 💚🙏
